Israel Thomas was granted his wings on Friday, September 6, 2019. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family. He was a soldier that fought a good fight until the very end.
Israel Thomas was born on June 23, 1934 in St. Louis, MO. He was the 5th child born to the union of Robert and Virgie Thomas. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force, served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. He retired from Metropolitan Sewer District after serving over 25 years of dedicated service.
On January 16, 1958 he married the love of his life, Vergie Mae Gardner, who proceeded him in death. To their union, he was blessed to be the father of seven children. He was proceeded in death by five siblings, George Thomas, Tonsella Halloway, Herbert Thomas, Hortense Howard and Robert Lee Thomas, Jr..
He leaves to cherish his memory, Beverly Dillon-Bussey (Bill), Oswald L. Thomas, Steven Thomas, Sandra L. Thomas, Marcia F. Thomas, Melanie F. Wallace (Rick), Melinda Thomas, one Brother Roland Thomas and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was a dedicated family man and always enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his close friends. He was and will always be the life of any party!
