Deacon Cleo Exell Mosley, born on July 4, 1939, in Sturgis, Mississippi, peacefully departed from this earthly life on 19 April 2024. He was the beloved son of Ezra and Willie Mosley, and the youngest sibling to James Mosley and Earline Favell, both of whom preceded him in death. At a tender age, Cleo journeyed to St. Louis, Missouri, where he spent the rest of his days.
Cleo's journey through life was marked by service and dedication. He graduated from Summer High School and answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1969. Upon honorable discharge, Cleo embarked on a 37-year career at Bi-State Transit. His tenure saw him transition from a bus driver to a skilled mechanic, leaving an indelible mark on his workplace.
In 1983, Cleo embraced a profound spiritual transformation, committing his life to Christ at Solomon’s Temple Church, where he faithfully served for over three decades. Under the esteemed leadership of Bishop James E. Holloway, Cleo was ordained as a Deacon, embodying the principles of faith, compassion, and humility.
Later in his spiritual journey, Cleo joined Life Harvesting Ministries, serving alongside his son, Pastor Warren E. Mosley. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, leaving an enduring impact on those around him.
Cleo was a man of few words but immense actions. He found joy in riding motorcycles, repairing cars, assisting others, playing pool, and tending to lawns. His wisdom and love extended beyond his own family, touching the lives of countless children who found solace and guidance in his presence.
In 1984, Cleo united in marriage with Debra A. Gilliam, forming a blended family rooted in love and devotion. Until his final moments, Cleo remained a steadfast husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and extended father.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra A. Mosley, five children: Coyita Mosley, Warren Mosley Sr. (Kaslina), Tracey Charles (Lawerence), Nicole Gilliam-Crawford-deceased(Carlton) and Terell Mosley; eleven grandchildren: Warren II., Joshua, Tayler, Leilauni, Jasmine, Ahlani, Amon Sr., Jorden, Carolan, Tacha, and Chanell; and seven great-grandchildren.
Cleo's legacy is further enriched by his bonus children and grandchildren, Crystal M., Monetta S., Krystle P., Kasandra P., Milira Y., Jacquela J., Jasmine M., Johnetta M., Shyanna J., Shanya W., and Alyssa. Sister-In-laws, Gloria, Sandra (David), Linda (Terry), and Shirley (Tony), brothers-in-law, John Gilliam, Albert Mitchell and a multitude of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Deacon Cleo Exell Mosley's life epitomized service, faith, and love. His memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
