Arthur Bahiyud Deen El-Amin was born January 30, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the eldest of eight children born to Betty Jane Evans-Owens who preceded him in death. He departed this life on January 6, 2022 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was 74 years old.
Arthur was educated through the California Public School System. He graduated from Centennial High School before leaving the state and finding his way back to his birthplace in St. Louis.
As a young man, he committed his life to Islam and became an active member of the Muslim community. He served as President of the Tauheed Youth Group for many years and remains an intricate part of the organization today.
He was the founder and CEO of Building Investment Group LLC, a local real estate development and service firm which has constructed new homes for families throughout the community. He received a number of recognitions which included “Community Builder of the Year” from Better Family Life, “Developer of the Year” from the City of St. Louis, and “Recognition of Devoted & Uncompromising Service” from the Tauheed Youth Group, to name a few.
In 2003, Arthur married his second wife and life partner, Della El-Amin. Two children were born and one step-son was blended to this union. He deeply loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had the biggest heart, always willing to extend his hand and his wisdom.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Della El-Amin; nine children: Sheerefah Fox, Kareemah Johnson (Dwight), Anjail Patterson (Darick), Jameelah El-Amin, Muhammad El-Amin (Candise), Rasheed El-Amin , Brandon Ellis-Strickland (Alexis), Amirah El-Amin, and Omar El-Amin; seven siblings: Janet Coleman (Norman), Gail Evans, Jackie Spann (Tyrone), Halsey Owens, Erwin Owens, Kenneth Owens (Erma), and Lisa Owens; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including two very special lifelong friends, Sultan Muhammad and Anthony Shahid.
