On December 17, 1949, Eddie Earl Jones Sr. was born in Charleston, Mississippi to the union of two amazing people, Ed Jones and Lessie Lee Jones. Eddie was educated in the St. Louis Public School system and graduated a dual program from Beaumont High/ O’Fallon Technical School with skills and expertise in Auto Body Repair. He was a dedicated father of 3 wonderful children; Earl, Dion and Taneika. He would later open his own Auto Body Repair Shop called Three Way Auto Body restoring vehicles to like new condition from all manner of damage.
Eddie was united to the love of his life Erma Lee Lewis in July of 1994. She preceded him in death in September 2013. As a result of this union, 3 more beautiful children were added to his life to love: Jerome, Ronald, and Eddie Jr. He was a mentor/ father figure to many along the way and was a go to for person for everything.
He loved spending time with family, fishing, and bowling. He showed out in the kitchen and was masterful on that BBQ grill every time he fired it up. Cookouts, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends were some of his favorite pastimes. He also loved to sing. He was a soulful singer and was known for singing songs from all genres, like the Jackson 5, BB King, Bobby Bland, Johnny Taylor, and anything else that connected with his soul. Eddie performed with his band “The Swinging Limitations” throughout the state of Missouri, for many years with the support of his family, friends, and fans. Later in life, he founded the Gospel singing group, The Willing Four. This quartet also ministered through song and sang at various churches throughout Missouri lifting up the name of Jesus, giving God glory, and blessing the souls of all that heard their harmonious voices. Eddie brought joy and touched many hearts every time he sang “Fix It Jesus”, by the Canton Spirituals.
Eddie is survived by his only brother Tommy Lamont. Their bond was strong. He adored his grandchildren, Dion Jr, Allanis, Darin, Marquise, Jerome Jr, Deon, Theodore (Teddy), Treydon, Taylor, Zoria, Maja, Zion, Eddie III, David, Angel, and 2 great grandchildren Sebastian and Noah. They were truly the apples of his eyes and he loved spending time with them.
His love for his family ran deep. When the family needed him, he was there to pray and lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful father and friend. A devote Christian, raised in the church, he confessed Christ at an early age. He continued to serve the Lord and became a Deacon in 2002, and an Ordained Minister in 2010 while he served at Gethsemane Primitive Baptist Church.
Eddie was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Ed and Lessie Lee Jones, and wife Erma Lee Jones.
On Monday, December 14, 2020, our heavenly father called him home. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his daughter Taneika Jones; his sons, Earl Jones, Dion Jones Sr., Jerome A.
