Mr. Edward Alexander Obituary

Edward Gary Alexander was born May 21, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the youngest of six children and often bragged about being the baby.

In 1978, Edward became a father for the first time to Edward Jr. In 1981, he met Sharon Kester with whom he had two daughters, Christa born in 1982 and Jasmine born in 1984. In 1998, Edward married Sharon and became the stepfather to Anthony and Sabrina.

Edward attended Northwest High School and later obtained his GED. He furthered his education at Forest Park Community College from which he graduated on the Dean’s list. While at Forest Park Edward was an active member of the Veteran’s Club and the Entrepreneur Missouri Student Board. Edward then earned a scholarship to Harris Stowe State University and had one semester remaining to complete his degree. He was a very engaged student with a eagerness to learn and teach.

Edward spent many years working at Denny’s. During this time he met and became lifelong friends and family with many of his co-workers. Edward had a caring, giving nature with a big heart that was expressed in his willingness to help anyone he could. His loud and opinionated voice matched his infectious smile and belly laughs. He was a good listener and was often motivating to others in his own way. His spontaneous actions and random visits when you least expect them will surely be missed.

Edward loved his family and friends, but above all he loved being a grandpa. He was very involved in helping with his grandchildren from showing up for games and shows to picking them up for school over the years. He often bragged about his fourteen grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by his mother Lura White, father Palmer Alexander, stepfather Rufus White, brother Lawrence Bramlett, sister Vernice Alexander and grandson Jaden Shatusky.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Kester, son Edward Alexander Jr., daughters Christa Russo (Matthew) and Jasmine Brown (Justin), chosen-children Anthony Kester and Sabrina Kester; grandchildren Erika Alexander, Coen Shatusky, Kelly Brown, Isabella Kester, Vivien Pruitt, Brianna Dillard, Jayda Brown, Liam Kester, Jackson Dillard, Greysen Russo, Theodore Dillard, Justin Brown Jr., Kardy Brown; brother Palmer Alexander Jr. (Carolyn); sisters Alvenus Buckner and Mary Lee (Mike); nephews and nieces Richard, Tiffany, Tonya, Tammy, Ronney, Tracy, Palmer III, Jason, Isaac, Michelle and a host of great nephews and nieces.
