Ezell Parsons was born on November 13, 1952 to Helen L. Parsons and William Parsons at Homer G. Phillips in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the sixth of eight children. As a child, he was baptized and gave his life to Christ while attending Holy Angels Catholic School. Later, he attended Kinloch Middle School and High School. In his youth, Ezell enjoyed playing sports. As a stellar athlete, he especially enjoyed playing basketball in high school. After graduating, he attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri on an athletic scholarship.
Following college, Ezell moved back to Kinloch, Missouri. One day while in Kinloch, he pulled up in front of Tom Boys on Martin Luther King Drive. He yelled out of the window to a young woman riding in a Volkswagen, “Hey, you! I’ve never rode in a Volkswagen. When are you going to let me ride in your Volkswagen?!” After hearing a hard, “No”, Ezell replied, “Well, will you give me your number then?” After several no's and several years later, that young woman finally said, “Yes”. Ezell joined in holy matrimony with Betty Henderson on June 11, 2005. The father of Tiffany and Willoid, Ezell would do anything for his children. Tiffany describes her Dad as extraordinarily patient with her and fun-loving.
Ezell was excellent in connecting with people and never met a stranger. His charming personality, friendly smile, and easy way with others made it natural for him to be the class clown of ‘72. He was a character and his fun-loving manner resulted in his many nicknames like “E” and “Pop”. He embraced them all. Ezell loved his friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle. You could always count on him for a good laugh, a good deal, and to show up anywhere with good food.
Ezell entered heaven on August 14, 2020. We rejoice for his reunion with his mother and father Helen and William, sisters Edwina, Eileen, and Catherine, and brother William. His legacy is cherished and honored by his wife, Betty; daughter, Tiffany; son, Willoid; grandchildren, Jernay, Lakessa, Jailyn, Mesha, Willoid Jr., and Mi’Khi; sisters, Ada and Valencia; brother, Jethro; goddaughter, Ammoni, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
