Mr. Jimmie Lee Holmes

Jimmie L. Holmes was born December 24, 1956 in Merigold, MS to Linda and Johnnie Holmes. Both parents preceded him in death. His brothers, Johnnie Holmes, Jr., Howard Hampton, Willie Price, Eddie Price and sister Dorothy Harris all preceded him in death.

Jimmie grew up in Shelby, MS. He attended the Broad Street High School. Jimmie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age while attending the Macedonia MB Church in Shelby, MS. Jimmie joined the United States Marine Corp in 1973/74. After completing his tour in the Marines, he settled in California. He later relocated to St. Louis, Missouri.

Jimmie ministered the Word of God to the community at St. Louis Gospel Assembly from 1980-1983. He was employed by DHL Courier Services and Wonder Bread until he moved to Hannibal, MO. Jimmie became ill in 2019 and remained in Nursing Facilities and Hospitals until his demise.

Jimmie L. Holmes departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Blue Circle Nursing Facility.

He Leaves to cherish is loving memories: One daughter – Monique Harrell of St. Louis, MO; Two sons: Desmond Holmes of St. Louis, MO; Rozell Holmes of Quincy, IL; One stepson, Devin Whiteside of Hannibal, MO; Three sisters – Eloise (Holmes) McClendon, Doretha (Edward) Dandridge and Rosie Holmes of St. Louis, MO; Four brothers – Walter (Gerhonda) Holmes and Calvin Thomas of Shelby, MS; Michael Holmes of Plaqumine, LA and James Holmes of St. Louis, MO, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
