On Monday, March 30, 2020, John L McDonald, beloved husband and father of five children, had his sunset at age 76.
John’s sunrise was on September 6, 1943 in Noxapater, MS to Johnnie and Eunice Conea Lampley (McDonald). He was a passionate Minister for over 30 years, a successful businessman over 50 years and an amazing musician who loved his family second only to God. On January 15, 1966, he married Geneva Anderson his wife of 54 years. They raised three daughters, Felicia Omodia, Genelle, Michelle and only son, John Jr. He was also the eldest of twelve children.
One of the most positive, peaceful, forgiving and compassionate spirits anyone could ever hope to meet; John loved people and dedicated his life to the Lord more than 70 years ago.
He could enter a room and it would light up with his infectious smile, sense of humor, brilliant intelligence and wisdom all of which John was known for.
John was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Lampley, his stepfather Harvey McDonald, his mother Eunice Conea McDonald, brother Daryl McDonald and sister Johnnie Lampley. He is survived by his wife, Geneva McDonald, his five children, LaRonda (Greg) Birch, Felicia Omodia, Genelle (Antoine) Cannon, Michelle (John) Kiehne and John Jr (Audrey) McDonald, his seven grandchildren, his two great grandchildren, his stepmother Delois Lampley and his ten brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Life for John L McDonald will be announced at a future date.
