Mr. Leon Theo Jones, Jr. was born to the union of Mr. Leon T. Jones and Maebelle Matthews on February 18, 1947 in Saint Louis, Missouri. Both parents preceded him in death. Leon mourned the loss of his grandson, John A. Johnson Jr. and granddaughter, Leondra L. Jones He had two brothers Mr. Walter Lee Jones and Mr. Lester V. Jones who also preceded him in death.

Leon was educated in the Saint Louis public school district, attending Vashon High School. Leon met the love of his life, Ms. Ernestine Tarver in 1963 and to this union was born a daughter, Patricia Annette Tarver.

Leon worked at Central Counter Shoe Company for twenty-three years. He then moved on to other factories, and was last employed by Serta Mattress Company for nine years before retiring for health reasons.

Leon became a member of the Pagedale congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2015 and was baptized on March 17, 2017. According to Leon, “That was the proudest moment of my life”. He loved the ministry and would share his beliefs and faith with his family and his neighbors of the Alpha Terrace Apartments, where he resided for over ten years.

Leon leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Patricia A Martin and son-in-law, Sammy L. Martin; brother, Marion W. Cooper; sisters, Barbara Jean Latimore, Ollie Mae Cooper and Glenda Marie Jones; grandchildren, DeAngelo M. Johnson, Beatrice L. Johnson, Sammy L. Martin, Jr., JoHannah Martin, Jazmine Martin, and Serina Shannon; great grandchildren, Nijah L. Holloman, Janiyah G. Johnson, DeAngela M. Johnson Jr., Somya Shannon, R’miah Shannon and Tyrell Bennet; and a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends.
