Mr. Norman Rich Sr. Obituary

Norman P Rich Sr, also known as Roni Cat, ShoGun, Stormin Norman, Dada, Poppa Bear and even Grandfather. He was hardworking, who demanded respect,  believed in ass kicking if you crossed him regardless of your status and good time having classic man. Born and raised in East St Louis Il,  to Lucretia Murdock and Cecile Ware on June 8, 1940 in East St Louis Illinois, He was adopted by Luther Rich at the age of 3.

He made sure to let it been known he wasn’t a country boy.

He Married Maggie Jackson in 1957 and joined the military, he was an 82nd airborne Paratrooper, he held an Associates degree from SCC Community College  and also became a member of the Masons.

Ronnie Cat was a lover of sports; from the many boxing match fight parties, to understanding fall was made for football. Let’s not forget that basketball, track and field would also make their way across the big screen. He encouraged his sons as youth to play sports to build leadership and character, He would be there at each practice and never missed a game. This held true for his grandsons also. He held his daughters as princesses. If he was attending a sporting event in support of any child he would certainly be the loudest in the stands with a whistle that could be heard throughout.

He lived and enjoyed his life, to see him stepping out would be like seeing a live page from GQ magazine; His hat from Levine’s and suit were always perfect to the 9’s, his shoes had to shine. He was sophisticated in his attire.

He retired from Bi- State Metro after after 22 years of service as a city bus driver, he then drove cross country for Cavello for another 6 years. He truly enjoyed driving a road trip with his music by the Isley Brothers, Santana, or Mystikal bumping  loud through the speakers.

Norman Phillip Rich Sr (Ronnie Cat) is preceded in death by his mother Lucretia Murdock, father Cecil Ware, son Norman P Rich Jr, daughter Monique Brown and grandson Cortez L Rich. He leaves to cherish his legacy; his children with wife Maggie (Jackson) Rich, Rhonda Rich -Thomas, Wayne Rich, Regina Moore, Sayyid Rashad Amuuru El aka Shotty Rich. (Audrey) Daughter Mahogany Cody, (Marie) Uhlon Rich (Keyanna Rich) and Ivy Rich. A whole host of grandchildren, great grand children, cousins, and dear friends.
