Stephen Rodney Stewart was the second of three sons born to the union of Ida Lois Blair and William Arnold Stewart. He was born November 4, 1956, in Louisiana, Missouri, and was raised in Eolia, Missouri, until entering high school at University City. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri, St Louis and worked for many years in the medical/social services field. He was also a substitute teacher and in his last few years worked for Target Corporation before retiring.
Stephen was soft-spoken and easygoing. He was always ready to discuss any topic, having a love of reading and education. Family was very important to him, and he especially enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations. He was the proud father of one son, Sean. He was a great listener, held great patience, held his beliefs strongly, thrived in college campuses and libraries; with academics and literature being a favorite of his. He enjoyed science fiction stories as well as black and white film noir movies.
Preceded in death by his parents, Stephen is survived by his son, Sean Stewart; two brothers, Michael (Liz) Stewart & Sidney Stewart, a nephew Patrick Stewart, niece Megan (Heath) Schmidt; Grand niece and nephew Drai and Paxton; Aunts & Uncles, Juanita McElroy, Beverly Blair, Louella Childs, Ann Berry, Sue (Mickey) Talton, Bob (Erma) Blair, Phil (Cynthia) Blair; special friend, Betty Dondle and a host of cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.
