Mr. Tommy Chappel was born September 13, 1945 in Goodman, Mississippi to the union of John Luck Chappel and Rosia Lee Chappel. He was the eldest of eleven children. The family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri when he was six years old. He married Nancy Blish in December 1967, in that union one daughter was born. Both his parents, one brother, Jimmy Lee and two sisters, Ida Mae and Ruby preceded him in death. Tommy was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. He graduated from Kinloch Senior High.
Tommy was well known in Kinloch as one of the best mechanics. He loved working on cars and there was no job that was too big for him to fix. His knowledge as a mechanic was impressive, which is one reason why he was respected in the Kinloch community. He also drove cement trucks for Five Star Cement and Concrete Company.
Tommy came to Christ at Southern Mission Missionary Baptist Church under Bishop John Mitchell Jr. Tommy always had a positive attitude when you was around him. He would help anyone in need. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He touched the hearts of many in the time he had.
He transitioned from this life on January 8, 2022.
He leaves to celebrate his life: three daughters, Angelique Chappell, Tionna McCray, Brandi Chappell, all of St. Louis, MO; one son, Tony Chappel (Renee), St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; three sisters, Lela Coleman (Eddie), Liza Dubose (Rev. Murry), Loretta Chappel-Taylor; five brothers, John “Bill” Chappel, Joseph “Joey” Chappel, Raymond Chappel, Tyrone Chappel (Renae), all of St. Louis, MO; a bonus family the Laurels; a special woman in his life Christine Laurel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
