Tyrone Louis Ray Sr. was born on December 5, 1964, to Willie Bill Bonner and Virgie Ann Ray in St. Louis, Missouri. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life. Tyrone would always say, “Thank God for everything”. He loved his family so much, and he had an unbreakable bond with his Mama.
Tyrone attended St. Louis Public Schools, graduating from Roosevelt High in 1984. He ventured off to the U.S. Army for a short time, after returning home he then took some college courses. Tyrone’s true passion was working on cars; he learned that trade at an early age and became very good at it. There was great pride Tyrone had knowing he was able to rebuild a transmission or an engine. He worked at several mechanic shops but working for himself was more of his speed. If your car ever broke down on the side of road anywhere, Tyrone was one call away,. He would come day or night because he had a heart to serve people. He loved fixing cars and teaching what he knew to others.
Tyrone married Marissa Gail Ray, the love of his life in 1997, who preceded him in death along with his grandparents. Tyrone departed this life on September 25, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother-Virgie Ray, father-Willie Bonner, daughters- Beonnca, Anqoneque, Erica, Ebony and Alanda; his only son- Tyrone “Tjay”, grandchildren- Quincy, Tyjai, Tylan, Tyree and Legend; a host of siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
