Walter Elecia Bryant was born September 6, 1947, in St. Louis, Mo., to the union of Love and Mary Bryant.
Walter was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. He attended and graduated from Hadley Tech High School, later to become O’Fallon Technical High School. After Graduation he worked for a short while for the Old Chevrolet Shell Company on Goodfellow Blvd. Walter joined the Army in 1966, where he served in the Vietnam War. After his discharge from military duty he returned home to St. Louis where he met and married his wife, Ms. Gloria Jean Gilliam, December 14, 1969.
His training in the Army allowed him to drive over the road for Yellow Freight Co., fo several years. When he decided to come off the road, he drove for Bi-State Metro System. Upon leaving that job and because of his love for people, he did patient transport for a local company called P.A.C.E. until he retired.
Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at New Testament Christian Church under Rev. Tiemann, where he remained a faithful member under Pastor David Devonshire until his death.
Walter was preceded in death by both parents, 1 brother William Ross of Chicago, IL and 1 sister Queenester Williams of St. Louis, MO. He leaves to celebrate his life: his wife Gloria Jean Bryant; 2 daughters Anita Tucker of Chicago, IL and Gabrielle Parker of St. Louis, MO; 4 sons Walter Bryant, Jr., Jeffery Bryant, Christopher Bryant and Jamond Gilliam Sr.; beloved son-in-law Stevon Parker; 21 grandchildren Aaron (Stacey), Domonic (Alecia), Jonathan, Miana, Stephon, Kayla, Makilya, Jasmine, Antwan, Tony, Kavon, Jeremiah, Rymia, Christiana Chris Jr., Cassidy, Jamond Jr., Camille and Callie; 3 great grandchildren A’mareya, Nicolas and Luna; 5 brothers-in-law John C. Gilliam Sr., Exell Mosley, Albert Mitchell, Terry Love Anthony Mack and David Shaw; a beloved cousin Herbert Gillion; 10 sisters-in-law Debra Mosley Michelle Scott, Sandra Lee Shaw, Vanessa Major, Redale Jones, Linda Gilliam-Love, Sandra Ware, Janella Scott, Shirley Mack, Priscilla Ross, and Audrey Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and church family.
