Mr. Willie Conway Obituary

Willie Conway was born March 4, 1933 to proud parents Andrew and Katie Conway. He was the sixth of ten children. Both parents; children Cornelius and Dwayne; stepdaughter Monoka Collins; siblings Jimmie, Roger, Thomas, Vernida Dunlap, Marie Hunter and Audrey all preceded him in death.

Willie attended Clayvon County School in Port Gibson, Mississippi. He joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where in over forty years he served as president of the Usher Board as well as a member of the Usher’s Alliance. He traveled all over with the alliance and was a talented March instructor.

Willie affectionately known as Conway worked as a mechanic for Vincel Pontiac for 36 years from which he retired. He then went to become an armed security guard for B&W Police Security Systems for 15 years. He loved and took pride in being a security guard. He was small in stature but he was a giant. One of the fondest memories of him was him hunting and carving the pigs and deer. You had to see it to believe it. He kept his knife on him. Known as Conway to most but PaPa to family, his infectious smile, stylish dress, and fun personality will truly be missed. Let’s not forget he was a smooth dancer.

On November 24, 2001 Willie married Audrey M. Rucker. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family was very important and meant everything to him. Willie enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting deer, rabbit and squirrel. He also loved to go fishing.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Audrey Conway; children Willie Jr., Patricia, Lester, and Angie; stepchildren, Kathy Collins, John Rucker III (Linnell), Lori Smith and Angela Johnson (Reggie); siblings, Anna Mays, Jewel (Margaret), Josie May Martin (Booker) and Nathaniel; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
