Willie B. Davis, Jr. was born on March 24, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Willie B. Sr. and Bertha (Patton) Davis. He was the second of six children.
Willie B. was educated in Saint Louis Public School System where he went onto graduate from Hadley Technical High School in June of 1961. He was known as the 5th best track runner in the state of Missouri during his high school years.
On December 21, 1961, he was joined in holy matrimony with Patricia S. Gatewood, his high school sweetheart. From this union four sons were born, Frederick, Jeffrey, Brian and Willie III. His parents, two sons; Jeffrey and Frederick, two sisters; Jacqueline and Constance, all preceded him in death.
Willie B., affectionately known as “Joon”, was a hard worker and enjoyed work that was hand driven. He worked for Clark Peoples staining furniture, Big B Supermarkets as a Butcher and had a passion for reupholstering furniture. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. If you were a friend, he considered you family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his devoted wife Patricia, two sons; Brian Davis, Sr. and Willie Davis III; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters; Sharon Hall and Alicia Davis; two brothers, Steven (Janet) Davis, Sr. and Jerry Cockrell Jr.; one aunt, Artie (Michael) Hargrove of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
