Anita Elizabeth Aldridge was born July 3, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clarice Mosby and Jasper Stalling. She was the eldest of six (6) children. Anita was preceded in death by both parents, her adored baby brother Anthony Smith Sr. and loving baby sister Diane Marie Coleman.
Anita was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools, attending Sumner High School.
Anita gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend Ferguson. In her later years, she became a member of New Hope Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where her daughter, Rhonda, serves as Founder and Pastor.
Anita was united in Holy Matrimony to Melvin Aldridge Sr. and to that union five (5) beautiful children were born; Tracey, Rhonda, Melvin Jr., Diane and Brandi.
“Nita-Babe” as she was affectionately known was loved by many. Her most fulfilling job was caring for her children, grandchildren and extended family. She was an AMAZING cook and one of the many ways she expressed her love of family was through the meals she prepared.
Anita loved sports! She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and keeping-up with current events both “reality” and non-reality. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the news and reading the newspaper.
Momma will be greatly missed by many. She leaves to cherish via her husband; Melvin Aldridge Sr., five (5) children and a special Son-in-Law; Tracey Stalling, Rhonda Aldridge, Melvin Aldridge Jr., Diane Aldridge-Carbin (Leon) and Brandi Aldridge, nine (9) grandchildren; Taras, Jabarri, Melany, Daja, Melvin III, Jacobi, Leon Jr., Isabella and Gabriella, three (3) siblings; Lerna, Thomas Van and Stevenson, three (3) sisters-in law; Jacqueline, Rosalyn and Denise, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
