Betty L. Betts was born May 17, 1939 to the union of Arthur and Pealey Carruth in Forrest City, Arkansas. She was the fourth child born to this union. Her father, Arthur Carruth, mother, Pealey Carruth, her older sister, Pearlean Ivy, oldest brother, Walter Carruth, brother, Joseph Carruth, and her youngest brother, Arthur Carruth all preceded her in death.
Betty was educated at Turner Middle School in St. Louis, MO. and also Central High School in Hayti, MO. Betty confessed a hope in Christ at a early age.
Betty was married to Jesse Charles Betts on July 1, 1959 and to this union four children were born. Two of the children passed away at birth. Betty was devoted to her husband for 62 years, unfortunately he passed two weeks after her.
Betty worked at St. Mary's Health Center in Clayton, MO for 40 years, in the dietary Department. Betty was a fantastic baker. She could make any type of pastry that melts in your mouth. Betty was also an anointed singer, famous for singing the Lords prayer. She loved to visit the sick, and was a very cheerful giver to many charitable organizations. a devoted wife, and a great homemaker who loved her family very much.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory: two children,Terrie Edwards and Jesse Charles Betts Jr; five grandchildren, Teresa Edwards, Bryant II Edwards, Travontai Edwards, Tianne Coleman, Jesse Charles Betts III and fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys King, and Ollie Robinson; one brother, James Carruth (Myrna) of St Louis, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
