Gelilla Dean was born on April 4,1945 to the union of Edward and Allean Winston in Saint Louis, Mo. She was the oldest of 5 children born to this union.
Gelilla grew up on Minerva Ave where she met and married Joseph Arthur Dean on May 1st,1965, and of this union 4 children were born.
Gelilla was educated in the Saint Louis Public School System and graduated from Soldan High School, class of 1963. She attended Forest Park Community College. After which, she was employed by the Federal government for 12 years. After caring for her young family at home for a period of time, she was employed by St. Elizabeth Academy where she served as a secretary for 30 plus years until she retired.
Gelilla loved the Lord and was faithful and very passionate about her walk with Christ at an early age. She was baptized at a young age at First Free Will Baptist Church. She continued to further her walk with Christ and attended Communion Church Ministries for many years. Afterwards, she became a member of Gathering of Christ Church STL and was baptized with the knowledge of consecrating her life to Christ and wholeheartedly keeping the Law, Statues and Commandments and the Holy days of the Bible. She served on the Mothers’ advisory board according to Titus 2:3-5 until her passing.
Gelilla also known as Mother Gee and Gee was highly impactful, respected and loved by her family, friends and church and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by both parents, husband, brother, Edward A. Winston and brother-in law, Robert (Bobby) Brandy.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Children: Yolanda Dean, Joseph Terez Dean (Felicia), Keith L. Dean (Veronica), and Aurielle Jackson (James), Grandchildren: Redarin Dean, Justin Dean, Laila Dean, Jaden Jackson, Keilan Dean, Aiden Jackson, Keirsan Dean, Keicia Dean, Kai Liam Dean. Sisters Marvis Winston- Brandy, and Valarie Jones (Ernest), and Brother Latour Winston (Veronica), beloved sister in Christ, Shirley Norman, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
