On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Geneva McDonald, a most cherished wife and mother of four had her sunset at age 73.
Geneva’s sunrise was a beautiful day on April 7, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Palmer and Ida Mae Anderson. She was beautiful, a powerfully gifted singer with the voice of a songbird, an amazing cook, an award winning Artist and an inspiration.
Geneva dedicated her life to her family who was only second to God. On January 15, 1966 she married her first and only love, John L. McDonald her husband of 54 years. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters: Felicia, Genelle, Michelle and one handsome son John L. Jr. Geneva is also one of eight children.
When you imagine the beauty of a rose, the courage and the tenderness of a lioness, the strength of an eagle with a never ending love you think of Geneva. Geneva also dedicated her life to the Lord more than 60 years ago.
Geneva was someone who would give you the clothes off of her back and to know her was to know royalty and to know what it is to be a true Lady. Her beautiful face, her enchanting smile, her lovely laugh and her warm and strong embrace always made you feel safe and “at home”.
Geneva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. McDonald, her father Palmer Anderson and her mother Ida Mae Anderson. She is survived by her children: Felicia (McDonald) Omodia, Genelle (McDonald) Cannon, Michelle (John) Kiehne, John L. (Audrey) McDonald and stepdaughter Laronda (Greg) Birch; Geneva’s seven grandchildren, her two great grandchildren, her mother-in-law Delois Lampley, four brothers and three sisters; and two Goddaughters: Angela Massey Ray and Tonya Winfield.
A Celebration of Life for Geneva McDonald will be held on September 26, 2020.
