Karen A. Smith was born December 10, 1963 to the late Bobby Lane and Joyce Lane in Queens, New York. She met her husband in Arizona in 1984 and they married shortly thereafter in 1985. A few years later the couple relocated to St. Louis, MO.
She surrendered her life to Christ at an early age, and loved helping all God’s people. Her passion was singing in the church choir and serving. She was truly all Heart & Soul, and it showed daily in the love Karen had for her family.
Karen was known as “Mama Smith” by all the children in the neighbor hood. She always had an open door to children and anyone in need. She was affectionately called “SWEET” by her husband, and that name over time was picked up by friends and family who loved her and changed to “Mrs. Sweet”.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Bobby and Joyce Lane, and a brother David Lane.
Karen Smith leaves to cherish her loving memories: her devoted husband, Mark Smith Sr.; son Mark Smith Jr., son Matthew (Ebony) Smith, daughter Karryn Smith, daughter Jasmine Smith, daughter Angel Smith, and stepdaughter Erica Smith; eight grandchildren J.B., Jayona, Brittany, Azaria, Matthew Jr., Trayon, Xavier and April; and a host of other relatives and friends.
