Ms. Viola Hill, at the age of 91, was granted her angel wings on May 13, 2020. She was born on January 7, 1929 in Macon, Mississippi to Mamie Stewart, her mother who preceded her in death.
Ms. Viola Hill professed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age in Macon, Mississippi. She continued to practice her faith even up to her passing.
Viola, also known affectionately as “Sis”, was a bright light to her family. She loved to love people. She did not drive but she was far from isolated. Viola went out daily on what her family and friends describe as “rounds,” checking on the apartment complex, staff and neighbors, preparing meals and sharing words of wisdom and encouragement to all she came in contact with. Those who lived in the radius of her daily walks were her village. She loved the Maconites and never missed a Scholarship Ball, she was an advocate fisher…cleaning fish in record time, she loved to shop and loved her church and church family at St Johns Church, The Beloved Community UCC.
Viola led a full life retiring from Bussman Fuse Company (later purchased by Alcoa) after 30 years of employment.
Sis was kind, patient, loving, faithful, independent, strong, and always direct in her conversation, never wavering in her belief and faith. Her gentle smile and presence gave us all such courage, hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Viola is preceded in death by her mother Mamie Stewart; four sisters, Julia Pippen, Arline Black, Mattie Williams, Willie Hampton. She leaves to cherish her memory; a special cousin, Marjorie Mitchell; niece, Roslyn Williams; two nephews, Russell Williams and Jason Noble; four special friends, Dorothy Stewart, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Lovey, Rose Chapman as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
