Virgie Ann Ray, was born on July 30, 1942, to parents John Louis Ray and Dorothy Blocker, who preceded her in death.
Virgie attended St Louis Public Schools, graduating from Beaumont High School. She took pride in her 30 year career as a St. Louis City Correctional Officer, retiring in 2006.
Virgie had one child, Tyrone Louis Ray, Sr. who preceded her in death. Tyrone was her absolute joy in life. And if you know her, you know she was riding with and for him whether he was right or wrong! Virgie will always be remembered as a strong, confident, and robust woman. She didn’t take any nonsense, but her door was always open to others. She will curse you out and feed you all at the same time! She loved her grandchildren and there was nothing she would not do for them.
Virgie will forever be loved and cherished by her grandchildren - Beonnca Fletcher, Tyrone “Tjay” Ray Jr., Anqoneque Ray, Erica Ray, Ebony Ray and Alanda Mangum; her great-grand children, Quincy Gibson, Tyjai Ray, Tylan Ray, Tyree Ray, Legend Ray and Loyalty Ray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
