Anita Collins was born October 23, 1945. She was born to Charles Francis Ellis and Ruth Vivian Collins who both preceded her in death.
Anita attended the St. Louis Public Schools. She graduated from Soldan High School.
Anita professed a Hope in Jesus Christ as her savior early on in life. She was baptized at Fifth Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri by Rev. Curtis H. Faulkner. She served and participated in various ministries at Fifth Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Clarence J. Duvall Senior. Anita became a member of the New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in 1980 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. George Guy III. She sang in the choir at New Paradise. It was at New Paradise where her son Vincent D. Collins accepted the call to become a minister of the Gospel in 1982. Anita in 1992 joined the Friendly Baptist Church in St. Louis Missouri where her son Vincent D. Collins had been elected Pastor. She served on the Pastors Aid at Friendly Baptist and was so proud to have her son as her Pastor. In 2004 Anita became a member of the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Illinois where her son Vincent D. Collins had been elected pastor. Anita Loved Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Pisgah loved mother Collins. Anita served as a mother of the church until her passing.
Anita held several jobs early on in life. For 20 years Anita worked as a Psychiatric Aid at State Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri until her retirement.
Anita loved and cherished her family. She loved spending time with family particularly her sisters. Whenever there was a family event, Anita was there. Her smile, and her laughter will forever be remembered by her family. Anita was the sixth of ten children. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family meant everything to her.
Anita had three children. Two sons, Tony Ethan Collins and Vincent Derrick Collins, one daughter, Kim Nicole West (who preceded her in death), one goddaughter, Tiffany Collins and her son Malikh Vincent Collins who she loved dearly. In addition to her parents one brother, Percy Wells Sr., three sisters, Charlsetta Brown, Sarah Brown and Ruth Ann Dollison preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Tony Ethan Collins (LaTrenna) and Vincent D. Collins; four sisters, Audrey Conway (Willie), Alice Rucker (Joseph), Patricia Hassel-Wright (Atwillow) and Beatrix Brown; two brothers, James Henry Collins (Joann) and Vincent Lamont Collins (Louise); nine grandchildren, Tierra Collins, Courtland Collins, Alex’us Collins, Courtnesha Rogers, Taurean Green, Andre Hawkins, Dana Ingram, Jazmyne Ingram and Carey Ingram; twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
