Edna Louise Harden, age 78, was born on May 14, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to the late Howard and Louise (Butler) Camp. She was the second oldest of 10 children and attended De Andreis High School in St. Louis. After a short stay in South Dakota she returned to St. Louis and later received a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, worked briefly for Monsanto Corp. and retired from Washington University School of Medicine.
Edna (also known as Hedy) and Keith Brown El, were special friends. Hedy was also the mother of the late Robert L. Silvestri, Jr.; stepmother of Natasha Nicole Hurd and Donell Brown; grandmother of Tyre and Tyjah Powell and Tyden Johnson.
Edna "Hedy" was preceded in death by her son, Rob, her siblings Joan, Mike, Joe (Kathy) and David. She is survived by siblings Howard, Mary, Jim, Carol and Judy, as well as many cousins, nieces, ex-husbands Robert L. Silvestri Sr. Donald Harden and many wonderful friends.
Edna was the Chairperson of Missouri CURE (Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of Errants) an organization which she started back in 1990 . Edna was also the Editor of the Missouri CURE Newsletter, starting it from scratch and continuing to produce it for more than 32 years. Her passion was helping people, in addition to her lifelong work with CURE to help prisoners.
Another passion included writing, and she excelled in prose and poetry. She also loved reading and excelled at playing Scrabble and Bridge.
