Joeann Gardner was born Monday, September 19, 1949, in Packing Town Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Leo Gardner and Pliner “Sugar B” Foots.
While attending school, Joeann was an excellent student and received her diploma from Merrill High School, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Joeann found Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Old Morning Star Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend C.L. Brown.
In 1968, Joeann moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she attended Forest Park Community College. During this time Joeann was an avid pool player, winning several trophies celebrating each victory. Among other things, Joeann loved God, family, her “Day ‘o Work” tobacco, and BINGO! At least once a week, Joeann would go to play BINGO.
While residing in St. Louis, she became a member of New Morning Star Church under the leadership of Reverend Smith. In January of 2002, she joined Harrison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Jeffery Croft where she remained faithful until God called her home to rest. Through the years, she served with the Kitchen and Pastor’s Aid Committees.
Joeann had three children: Valda, Reginald, and Michael. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Dewayne Gardner, her younger brother, Chris Agnew and both of her parents, Leo Gardner and Pliner Foots.
She leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish her memories - her children: Valda Clark, Reginald Gardner, and their families; 16 Grandchildren; 20 Great-grandchildren; a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, several extended family and friends.
