Ms. Rachelle Valery

Rachelle Valery was born of the union of Lormelie Massillon and St-Jean Valery on November 7, 1957, in Vieux-Bourg D’Aquin, Haiti. She was one of twelve children. Both her parents preceded her in death, and her 2 siblings who survive her live in New York and Haiti.

Rachelle moved to the United States in 2002 and lived in New Orleans for one year until she decided to move to St. Louis in 2003 with her two sons. Rachelle was an educator through and through, and always cherished the opportunity to teach, coach, and help others grow as individuals. Her most important quality however was to always continue her own education in order to better help and serve her community.

She earned her first degrees in Education in Haiti. She came to St. Louis in 1998 on a scholarship through the CASS program. She continued with her studies and earned an Associate degree in Early Care and Education in 2010, a bachelor’s in childhood education In 2014, and a Master’s in Education in 2017.

Rachelle’s faith was very important to her, and she always strived to get involved in community and charity work as well as helping those in need no matter what their religious affiliation. Rachelle has had a tremendous impact on her family, friends, students, and community. She will forever be in our hearts and minds.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Cliff and Jean Pierre Lazare; sister, Michaele Cadet; brother, Rommel Valery; nieces, Murielle Cadet, Naherie Moise, Daniella Penthieve, Naomie Buteau, Cindy Valery, and Sheila Penthieve; nephew, Peterson Cadet, Noah Moise, Benson Massillon, Markemy Penthieve, Germain Penthieve, Makendy Penthieve, and all her friends and students.
