Ms. Rasheedah El-Amin Obituary

Born on March 12, 1947, in Marianna, Arkansas, Rasheedah El-Amin’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and learning. As the eldest of ten children, she blossomed in the heart of a large and supportive family, laying the foundation for the warmth and generosity that would become her hallmark.

Relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, at a young age, Rasheedah embraced life with an infectious zest. While cherishing her time with family and friends, she reveled in travel, savored the art of cooking, and danced with a spirit that captivated all around her.

Yet, within this love for life, Rasheedah discovered a deeper calling. Embracing the power of education, she embarked on a journey that would touch countless young minds. Earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Harris Stowe State College and a Master’s Degree from National-Louis University, both with honors, she poured her passion into over 30 years of dedicated service at Pershing Elementary in the University City School District.

Her dedication wasn’t simply measured in years; it was etched in the countless awards and accolades that came her way: “Teacher of the Year” recognitions, volunteerism awards for empowering young girls, and the enduring respect of colleagues and students alike.

Even after retiring from the school district, Rasheedah’s entrepreneurial spirit only flourished. As a Mary Kay Consultant, she continued to inspire and empower, her leadership and hard work earning her prestigious promotions and awards.

But beyond titles and achievements, Rasheedah’s true legacy lay in the way she touched lives. Her smile, dubbed “dimples” in her youth, had the power to melt away any stress. Her laughter was infectious, a melody that echoed through hearts long after the sound faded. And her heart, overflowing with kindness and generosity, left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Rasheedah El-Amin wasn’t just a teacher, a consultant, or a mother. She was a force of nature, a radiant soul who danced through life, leaving behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and inspiration. And while her physical presence may be gone, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived.

May her memory forever be a guiding light, reminding us to embrace life with courage, to spread kindness with unwavering generosity, and to dance like no one is watching, just as Rasheedah did.

Rasheedah leaves behind cherished memories with her six children: Shareefah Fox, Kareemah Johnson (who preceded her in death) (Dwight), Anjail Patterson (Darick), Jameelah El-Amin, Muhammad El-Amin (Candise), and Rasheed El-Amin filled with love, laughter, and support.
