Ms. Rebbie Lowery Obituary

Rebbie Lowery was born in Oakland, Mississippi, January 2nd, 1928. She was the third child born to Ivory Johnson Sr. and Minnie Nesbit Johnson. She was the youngest of twin sister Ruby Rucker-Johnson who was born thirty minutes earlier (or at least that was Rebbie’s account).

Rebbie was educated in the Oakland Mississippi Public School System and professed a hope in Christ at an early age.

Rebbie migrated to St. Louis Missouri in 1947. She and her twin sister, Ruby, were both employed by “Clean Coveralls.” They were both members of Laundry, Dry Cleaning and Dye House Workers International Union, Local No. 108.

Rebbie soon joined Lily of the Valley Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.J. Whitley. This would be her first church home in Saint Louis. Rebbie would later join Mt. Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. G. Shields Senior, where she attended until her health failed. Rebbie desiring to be in service later joined First Baptist Church of Elmwood Park under the leadership of her Son-In-Law, Rev. Brian K. Jackson where she served on the Mother Board until her transition into glory.

Rebbie’s true love, John Lowery preceded her in death on July 07th, 1997. He was a great father and a wonderful provider. To this union they had one child, Tawana Michelle Jackson (Brian K. Jackson).

Rebbie leaves to cherish six children, Eva Mae Gooch, Mary Francis Bufford (who preceded her in death), Minnie Lee Gooch, Bellis Jared Jr., Lucy Bell Williams, Tawana Michelle Jackson; Fourteen Grandchildren: Shirley, Jerome, Heather, Ladoris (who preceded her in death), Tonya, Edward, Ronnell, Dennell, Lakisha, Brian, Brandon, Devaughn, Delancey and Briana; Sixteen Great Grandchildren: William, Christina, Christopher, Darron, Savon, Talani, Bella, Brycen, Roman, Jervarcus, Tamerror, Lashona, Belinda, Jarrick, La Tajua and Kaleb; Six Great-Great grandchildren: Cameron, Corey, Camille Straw, Landon and Londyn Wallace and Da’kahrri. Rebbie leaves to cherish 27 siblings (sixteen preceded her in death), Surviving Siblings: Sisters:  Ruby Rucker (her twin sister), Lucy (Albert) James, Doris (Jerimiah) Williams, Zana (Don) Fields, Mary Ann Johnson; Brothers:  Ivory (Kim) Johnson and Lee (Delores) Ware, C.L. Johnson, Earnest (Earnestine) Johnson, Amos (Doris) Johnson. Siblings preceding her in death: Major Johnson, Linell Ware, Lula Jarvis and Ferdia Ware, Rosetta Johnson, Gladys Green, Richard Ware, Lenora Williams, Henry Ware, Helen Ware, Abram Ware Jr., Lucious Ware, Victoria Dorsey, Robert Ware, Fannie Thomas, Mary Lee Paugh, and Tommy Lee Johnson. Rebbie also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, a number which we cannot begin to count.
