Rosemary Sutherland was born July 3, 1947, to the union of Johnnie Mae Collins and Leonard Buchanan of Bessemer, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her sister, Tossie Stokes, (and her son, Charles Buchanan) and her brother Michael Buchanan.
Rosemary attended school through St. Louis public schools, graduating from Hadley, technical high school (Vashon High School). She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from St. Louis University. She spent a number of years working for McDonald Douglas as an administrative assistant.
Rosemary was united in holy matrimony to Bennie A. Jackson Sr. and gave birth to her oldest son, Bennie A. Jackson Jr. (fiancée, Tricia). The two divorced, and Rosemary later married, John E, Sutherland Sr. Through this union was born John E. Sutherland Jr., Christopher L. Sutherland (wife Courtney), and Christina M. Sutherland, (fiancé, Orlando). Rosemary was preceded in death by both former husbands John Sr. and Bennie Sr.
Rosemary had a way with style and flair that was her very own. From her over the top glasses to the high heels on her feet, she would make her presence be known by all when she stepped into a room. She had a creative way with words. Whether using her words to show that she cared and provide you with comfort, or constructively criticizing you, she had a way of stringing words together that could leave you baffled. She had a love for music and enjoyed learning various songs to play on her piano. She also enjoyed TV shows like “Cops” and murder mysteries.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, her brother Gregory Buchanan (wife Gwendolyn) her children Bennie, John, Chris, and Christina, nine grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and acquaintances.
