Shirley Ann Jones was born March 28, 1939, eldest of four children from the union of Thomas and Irene Spencer, in Memphis, Tennessee. Her parents, siblings, Irma and Thomas Jr., and oldest daughter, JoAnn, preceded her in death.
Shirley spent her early days in Cleveland, Ohio where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She graduated from John Hay High School. She obtained her Associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College in Business Administration/Real Estate. She later resided in Kansas, Georgia and Missouri.
Early in her career, Shirley worked for General Electric. She enjoyed a 30-year career with J.C. Penney promoted from sales associate to corporate trainer. She relocated to work in several retail locations with the company. Shirley also served as a licensed real estate agent. She was passionate about educating others and created an investment club with local community members and a workforce development company to empower the disabled.
Ms. Jones was passionate about attending church services and always found a worship community in each city she resided. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for over 12 years. Shirley was a talented artist and showcased her drawings in art fairs and in her home. She also loved to travel and listen to jazz music. She was passionate about dogs and owned a pet most of her adult life.
She departed this life on June 20, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri, survived by her sister, Bernadette, sister-in-law Carolyn, daughter, Rebecca (Brian), adult grandchildren, LaTiosha, Christopher and twin grandchildren, Raquel and Bryce, along with a host of extended family and friends to cherish her memory.
